Nest Undressed

The folks at SparkFun did a teardown of what makes the Nest learning thermostat tick. As the author says, “It’s always fun to see the wizard behind the curtain”.

Add to this the NY Times Tech Guru David Pogue is enamored with his new Nest and it looks like Tony Fadell has really hit a nerve. It looks like techies may be falling over themselves to spend $250 on their new “iStat”.

      In its initial offering, the Nest Learning thermostat is capable of single stage cooling and two stage heating only. This is good enough for most residential and many light commercial applications with systems of 5 tons cooling and less. However, we are assured that a commercial multi-stage Nest is in the works. The nice thing is that Nets’s on multiple systems will integrate together with their web and iOs software for central control. For more information, contact
